Program Coordinator I (Promotores Program)

The City of Pasadena Public Health Department is seeking a Program Coordinator I to lead the Promotores program. The Promotores program was launched in 2021 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to increase access to COVID-19 vaccines and vaccine clinic information. With lessons from the pandemic response in hand the program expanded to other public health focus areas such as obesity prevention and lead free homes. Promotores de salud also known as promotoras is the Spanish term for “community health workers”. Promotoras or promotores work in the community and come from within the community. Promotoras/es draw on their own lived experience to help design interventions to craft public health messaging to reach populations facing health disparities traditionally excluded racial/ethnic groups and other underserved communities. The Promotores program works to improve the health and well-being of families in Pasadena. The Promotores program functions out of the Department’s Health Promotion & Policy Development Division. THE IDEAL CANDIDATEThe Program Coordinator I will lead and support the Promotores program which serves the Pasadena community by providing public health education resources and information. This position selects and manages the team of Promotores using community survey data to prioritize and design training opportunities for promotores to prepare the team to deliver relevant and timely health education information and resources. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator with strong public speaking and relationship building skills.
